Beginning of the End for the Class of 09

This photo (taken during their freshman year media day) was the beginning; Sunday marks the beginning of the end for the above group of Tar Heels.

A rather unheralded recruiting class starts its last March Madness campaign with a Senior Day game aganist dook.

Coming in with no expectations following a national championship season, this group has constantly overachieved. During their 4 years in Chapel Hill, this class has seen the most successful stretch of basketball in Carolina history (they are 7 games away from being the winningest class in UNC history).

One player, Tyler Hansborough, has catapulted from an unassuming, bug-eyed 18-year-old, into possibly the greatest Tar Heel of all-time.

They deserve a national championship. Anything less would be a letdown for them.

Here’s hoping this season ends the way it should.
