Just a quick update on the Macbook Pro that I had to send back to Apple. After reporting the Shift+W problem to Apple, they had FedEx send me a printable mailing label. When I was printing out the mailing label I noticed that it was valued at $110. I thought to myself: “Self, why would it cost $110 to ship this computer to Apple?”
Well I soon found my answer. Less than a day after I put my Macbook in the mail, I received my new one. It was magical. Apple, kudos to you for having such an awesome return-shipping policy/system.
Even if the Genius Bar is ridiculously named.

So I recently received my new Macbook Pro via the Apple website. I bought the laptop refurbished and low-and-behold I had a snafu. When I pushed the “w” key in conjunction with the Shift key nothing happened. I couldn’t make a capital “w”! I could make a lower case “w” and I could make an capital of every other letter, but that darn “w” didn’t want to stand up!
I made an appointment at the “Genius Bar” at the Apple Store for some help. The guy at the counter let me know that I needed to return the computer via mail and he could confirm that I didn’t break it myself. Jeez, thanks! He gave me his card and I glanced down at it. His title didn’t reader clerk, customer service specialist, or anything close to that. It actually said “Genius.” Now, I love Apple for being innovative with their products and providing the world with great computers, but something about this guy’s card really got under my skin. I think I should get a job at Apple just so I can get the title of “Genius.”
So I am shipping the computer back to Apple and they are sending me a replacement. Let’s see how long it takes to get my new computer!
